√2023 Ford Everest V6 diesel outputs confirmed

There’s enough power on tap to make the next-generation 2023 Ford Everest the most powerful vehicle in its segment.

Power and torque outputs for the next-generation 2023 Ford Everest have been confirmed, as the vehicle adopts the option of V6 diesel power for the first time.

The 3.0-litre turbo diesel V6 – which is offered alongside the existing 2.0-litre twin-turbo four-cylinder diesel engine – makes 184kW at 3250rpm and 600Nm from 1750-2250rpm.

This matches the outputs of the new Ford Ranger ute, which is due to arrive in Australian showrooms from the middle of 2022.

This engine runs through a 10-speed automatic gearbox, along with a permanent four-wheel drive system.

This V6 diesel engine, which has a history of usage in the Ford F-150 pick-up and Land Rover Discovery luxury SUV, will put the Everest at the top of the list for power and torque bragging rights in the large four-wheel-drive SUV segment.

While the current 3.2-litre five-cylinder diesel engine will be axed, Ford’s 2.0-litre ‘BiTurbo’ four-cylinder will continue on. Peak power is slightly reduced (154kW at 3750rpm, down from 157kW), while torque remains steady at 500Nm, from 1750-2000rpm.

A single-turbo variant of the same 2.0-litre diesel engine – making 125kW/405Nm and used on base-specification Ranger utes – won’t be available for the Ford Everest.

When equipped with the V6 diesel engine, the Ford Everest will be the most powerful and torque-laden vehicle in its class.

Comfortably beating the Toyota Fortuner and Prado, Isuzu MU-X, and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, only larger and more expensive vehicles such as the Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series and Land Rover Defender will offer higher outputs in a four-wheel-drive wagon.

The next generation of the 2023 Ford Everest is set to arrive in Australian showroom in the second half of the year, following the Ranger ute.
