√2010 Subaru Forester 2.0D: owner review

I bought the 2010 turbo diesel Forester three years ago. The previous owner had problems with the DPF.

What we love
  • I love the turbo power. As an old revhead who can afford a V8, it is great
What we don’t
  • The wind noise you get with all Foresters

I bought the 2010 turbo diesel Forester three years ago. The previous owner had problems with the DPF. I took it to a diesel mechanic to have the filter cleaned and have not had a problem since.

I bought the car because of the good reviews for power and economy, and I have not been disappointed. It has great pickup for overtaking, and lots of torque for pulling a trailer.

Economically, I get under 7.0 litres per hundred kilometres all the time. I must add that I live in the bush and do all highway driving.

The manual gearbox is great, but sixth gear is not really necessary. It handles well in the wet or dry, on tar or gravel. It’s very comfortable on the highway and has loads of room for trips to the supermarket, or Bunnings if you lay the back seats down.

The radio is basic. No Bluetooth or WiFi, but it does the job.

The car looks good and doesn’t appear dated, even at 11 years old.
