√2022 Formula One Australian Grand Prix: Melbourne on-track schedule

If you’re anywhere near Melbourne this weekend, you’ll hear the howls of race-bred engines coming from Albert Park. Here’s what’s happening on track right now.

After a two-year absence, Formula One is back in Melbourne, and ready to hit the redesigned Albert Park layout in anger.

With all-new cars designed to promote closer racing, and a race track with wider corners and longer straights, this year’s Australia Formula One Grand Prix promises to be faster and even more exciting than ever before.

The last time the F1 cars raced at Albert Park then-Mercedes-AMG driver Valtteri Bottas comfortably beat teammate Lewis Hamilton to the chequered flag, with arch rival Max Verstappen coming home third.

Hometown hero Daniel Ricciardo started from 12th but suffered front wing damage on the pit straight after he was forced wide onto the grass and hit a culvert trying to overtake Sergio Perez.

This year Valtteri is in an Alfa Romeo, Daniel is in a McLaren and Lewis Hamilton is struggling to come to terms with his Mercedes. Who will win on Sunday is anybody’s guess, but we’re betting Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc (and Carlos Sainz) and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen will have plenty to say in the matter.

What’s on at Albert Park…
