√World’s most powerful ute breaks cover with six wheels

The specially modified tri-axle Ram pick-up is more than a metre longer than the longest Rolls-Royce, has more power than most hypercars, and costs more than a small house.

You call that a ute? A US high-performance tuning firm has created what it claims is the world’s most powerful pick-up.

The 2022 Hennessey Mammoth 1000 6×6 TRX broke cover overnight with more power – and wheels – than a Bugatti Veyron.

Based on the Ram TRX production ute, US manufacturer Hennessey has stretched the chassis, added a third axle, and tuned the V8 engine.

The truck now measures 7190mm from nose to tail, and weights approximately 4.0-tonnes – meaning it can be driven on a car license.

For reference, the longest Rolls-Royce limousine ever built is the 5980mm current-generation Phantom VIII LWB.

At its highest point, the Hennessey ute is 2130mm tall – towering over all but the very biggest NBA basketball players.

The existing 6.2-litre Hellcat V8 engine picks up new superchargers, fuel injectors, and a high-flow induction system.

These modifications up output to 754kW/1314Nm, sent to all six wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

While performance figures are yet to be announced, a 0-100km/h sprint in the mid 4.0-second range is likely.

All six 20-inch alloy wheels are wrapped by 37-inch off-road tires, while the two rear axles can be locked for off-road driving.

New LED lights, custom bumpers at the front and rear, electronic fold-out steps, Hennessey badging, and embroiled seats are also fitted as standard.

“Everything we do at Hennessey Performance is turned up to 11, but the Mammoth 1000 6×6 is definitely turned up to 12,” company CEO John Hennessey said in a media statement.

“Everything on the Mammoth 6×6 is bigger, badder, and more imposing – plus, it’s still super-fast, while being a total powerhouse off-road. It’s the undisputed king of the road.”

Just 12 examples of the 2022 Hennessey Mammoth 1000 6×6 TRX are slated for production each year, according to the manufacturer.

Pricing in the USA will start “in excess of” $US450,000 ($AU610,000), with a standard two-year/38,000km warranty included.

While Hennessey says the vehicle is “available for global shipping,” the car will not be offered in right-hand drive – ruling it out for Australia.

The Mammoth 1000 6×6 TRX follows the marque’s 2017 Hennessey VelociRaptor six-wheeler, underpinned by the Ford Raptor F-150.

Hennessey currently modifies a spate of utes, SUVs, and sports cars from Cadillac, Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford, GMC, and Jeep.

It also offers a small number of bespoke hypercars, including the $US1.8 Hennessey Venom F5 – which it claims has will top 500km/h.
