√World’s ugliest car gets twin-turbo 6.4-litre V8 power upgrade

Pontiac Aztek and Fiat Multipla, move aside – the $1.5 million Ram 1500-based Aznom Palladium ‘limousine’ just got sillier.

A hyper-luxurious and extraordinarily ugly pick-up turned SUV has been given a power boost.

The Aznom Palladium is based on a modified Ram 1500 ute chassis from the US, with custom bodywork completed in Italy.

Pitched as the embodiment of “elegance,” the vehicle currently starts from €1 million ($AU1.5 million).

According to the custom builder, one buyer recently decided the standard engine – a 5.7-litre V8 – wasn’t powerful enough for the daily commute.

So that engine was swapped-out for a twin turbo 6.4-litre V8 which the company claims delivers an output of 640kW/1050Nm.

It’s unknown who bought the vehicle, how much they payed for the upgrades, or when it will be finished.

Just 10 examples of the Palladium are reportedly slated for production in Italy annually, with each one customised to order.

“[The car requires] artisanal manufacturing techniques that are almost lost today, such as panel beating and hand-crafting the body of the car, together with other technological solutions,” a statement on the company’s website says.

“Engine builders, tanners, panel beaters, designers and engineers who have worked on this project are heirs to a tradition that has made Italian cars famous all around the world.”
