√2023 Ford F-150 Lightning electric ute more powerful than first promised

Customers of Ford’s new F-150 electric ute will benefit from more power and payload capacity than originally anticipated.

The new 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning is capable of more power than first expected, the company confirmed alongside the start of production of its new all-electric ute last week.

While maximum torque remains at 1050Nm across the range, both variants gain additional power. Models with the Standard Range battery pack now produce 337kW (up 9kW), with Extended Range variants capable of 433kW (up 13kW).

Subsequently, payload capacity is also higher at 1014kg – a boost of 107kg.

“We were seriously focused on raising the bar on this truck, including after we revealed it, so we can deliver more for our customers,” said F-150 Lightning Vehicle Engineering Manager, Dapo Adewusi.

“And our drive for continuous improvement will get a big boost when we start getting feedback and ideas from customers when they receive their Lightnings.”

The Ford F-150 pick-up will return to Ford Australia showrooms in mid-2023 in turbo V6 trim. However, the Lightning is not slated for local shores – though the company has left the door open to a local launch later down the line.
