√2022 Chevrolet Corvette sells for $255,000 at auction

With buyers scrambling to get their hands on the latest mid-engined Corvette, one person has paid almost 60 per cent over sticker at auction.

A brand-new 2022 Chevrolet Corvette 3LT Coupe has set a new record, selling at auction for more than a quarter of a million dollars in Australia.

The Corvette sold for $255,000 – $94,500 above its original advertised price of $160,000 plus on-road costs – however, Chevrolet increased the price of the model by $15,000 at the start of June, with 2023 vehicles now on sale at $175,000 before on-roads.

But with Corvettes in hot demand, some GMSV showrooms have been attempting to charge as much as $27,000 in dealer delivery fees, pushing the drive-away price to $236,000.

Assuming this particular car is staying in Queensland, the total cost of the Corvette will be almost $290,000, including the 7.5 per cent buyer’s fee and stamp duty.

Sold by Lloyds Auctioneers, this vehicle had just 14 kilometres on the clock and was finished in Hypersonic Grey with a two-tone Natural and Jet Black interior.

The C8 Corvette is powered by a 6.2-litre naturally-aspirated V8 producing 369kW and 637Nm, driving the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission, and propelling the car to 100km/h from a standstill in 3.1 seconds.

Drive understands most of the GMSV dealers have only been allocated between two and four Corvettes each, with this one originating from Llewellyn Motors near Brisbane.
