√Video: 2023 Skoda Octavia facelift spied for the first time
The updated Skoda Octavia has been caught on camera as it undergoes testing in the Austrian Alps.
The 2023 Skoda Octavia is set to receive a facelift, with a pre-production car spotted in Europe.
CarSpyMedia filmed the Octavia wagon in The Alps while towing a tandem trailer, with Skoda engineers testing the vehicle’s engine, transmission, and chassis under maximum load.
Camouflage covered the front and rear of the forthcoming mid-size car, but expect some minor styling revisions rather than a dramatic change to Skoda’s sharp design language.
Based on Volkswagen Group’s MQB Evo platform, it’s expected the new model will largely retain the current crop of powertrains on offer, with Australian buyers given the choice of a 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine or a 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder petrol engine.
Those who opt for the 1.4-litre ‘110TSI’ in the current model get 110kW and 250Nm driving the front wheels through an eight-speed torque-converter automatic, while the ‘140TSI’ variant gets the 2.0-litre with 140kW and 320Nm, powering the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
The current flagship Octavia RS gets increased performance from the 2.0-litre turbo, with 180kW and 370Nm also being delivered to the front axle via the seven-speed dual-clutch auto.
The 2023 Skoda Octavia is set to be unveiled later this year, with deliveries expected to arrive in showrooms from next year.
