√2021-2022 Land Rover and Range Rover models recalled in Australia
The fault could cause the seat belt pre-tensioner to not operate as intended, according to the recall notice.
Jaguar Land Rover Australia has recalled 350 examples of its 2021 and 2022 Land Rover Defender, Discovery, Discovery Sport, Range Rover Sport and Range Rover Velar, citing a potential fault with its seat belt pre-tensioner.
Affecting the Defender off-roader, Discovery large SUV, Discovery Sport, Range Rover Sport and Range Rover Velar medium SUVs, the Land Rover recall applies to certain vehicles built in 2021 and 2022.
The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “Due to a manufacturing defect, a damaged front seat belt pre-tensioner tube may have been installed on the seat belt retractor.
“As a result the seat belt pre-tensioner may not operate as intended.
“In the event of an accident, if the seat belt pre-tensioner does not operate as intended it may increase the risk of injury or, in the case of a serious accident increase the risk of death to vehicle occupants.”
