√How the Toyota Tundra and Toyota HiLux compare by the numbers

With the news the full-size Toyota Tundra is destined Down Under, we compare its size with the Toyota HiLux.

Australian roads look set to welcome another full-size ute option in the Toyota Tundra from 2024, should Toyota’s recently announced local validation process go ahead without fault.

Not only will it become another rival in the burgeoning US-derived pick-up category, which is currently populated by the Ram 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado, it will also stand as another option for Toyota buyers chasing something bigger than the current Australian favourite, the Toyota HiLux.

We’ll put together an in-depth spec comparison together to highlight the Toyota Tundra’s differences to the Ram 1500, Chevrolet Silverado, and Ford F-150 soon, but for now let’s put the new Toyota Tundra in a context which most Australians can relate to.

This is how the Toyota Tundra compares to the Toyota HiLux.

While we don’t know the full details of the Toyota Tundra specifications arriving in Australia for now, we’ll use the Tundra Capstone flagship (which is a likely starter for Australia) with a ‘CrewMax’ dual-cab body, 5.5-foot tub and hybrid engine for size comparison’s sake. We’ll compare this against the Toyota HiLux SR5 dual-cab ute.
