√Futuristic electric Porsche 911 imagined with this computer illustration
It may be some time before Porsche introduces a 911 with electric power, but one artist has imagined what it could look like.
The Porsche 911 has been reimagined as an electric sports car, providing a glimpse of what the future could hold for one of the world’s most iconic sports cars.
Digital artist Nicolas Vigier created these images of a futuristic 911, taking its influence from iconic Porsche models such as the 356 and Targa, as well as some design cues from the company’s recent electric concepts.
While there’s no direct association between the artist and Porsche, the concept was born from a design brief that specified the vehicle be “electric and modern, yet embodies classic Porsche design language”.

The 911 Concept is essentially split in two from the shoulder line, with the Los Angeles-based artist making the glass canopy an “organic surface”, while the bottom half was inspired by the “robust shapes of product design”.
The 911’s trademark oval headlights have been replaced with four LEDs on each side, giving off some vibes from the very rare slant-nose 911 of the past, while also echoing the light pattern from recent 911s.
The car’s unusual rear end is said to have taken inspiration from the classic Coke bottle shape, as well as from racing cars from throughout Porsche’s history – though there appears to be more than a passing nod to the brand’s electric Mission R concept of 2021.

While the Porsche Boxster and Cayman are set to move to electric power in the coming years, in September 2021 US magazine Car and Driver reported the 911 would remain as a petrol-powered vehicle for as long as possible.
Porsche has been investing heavily in synthetic fuels – including in a new plant being built in Tasmania – with the company lobbying officials in the European Union to allow the use of synthetic fuels for vehicles once new laws come into place that effectively ban traditional petrol and diesel engines in the region.
