√Video: Two Ferrari supercars crash street-racing in Italy
A street race gone wrong has resulted in major damage for a pair of Ferrari supercars in Italy, with both vehicles flying through the air and hitting a wall after missing a turn at high speed.
Just because you have the keys to a Ferrari, doesn’t mean you know how to drive it.
CCTV cameras have captured the dramatic end to an alleged street race between two Ferraris in Italy, after the cars launched into the air and hit a wall before catching fire.
Italian publication Automoto reports the Ferraris – a red 296 GTB hybrid and blue F12berlinetta V12 coupe– appeared to be racing each other on public roads in the north-eastern town of Osimo when they arrived at a left-hand turn too fast, and veered off the road.
Security footage from the house – uploaded to YouTube by Antonia Pio Guerra – shows the Ferraris launching into the air after hitting a dirt embankment, coming to rest after impacting a rock wall.
In a subsequent video uploaded to YouTube, the Ferrari F12 can be seen with its engine bay in flames. Firefighters were able to stop the blaze, but not before the fire all but destroyed the Ferrari.
According to Automoto, both drivers were males aged in their mid-50s and on holiday from the Netherlands and Belgium. One of the two male drivers was taken to hospital with minor injuries but later released.
The reports did not say whether the drivers were the registered owners of the cars or if the Ferraris had been rented.
