√2024 Hyundai i30 Sedan N Line facelift leaked, due this year
The updated Hyundai i30 Sedan range is complete with the first – unofficial – photos of the N Line version, which will offer a choice of turbo-petrol or hybrid power for the first time.
Photos of the updated 2024 Hyundai i30 Sedan N Line have leaked online in China, ahead of first Australian arrivals due by the end of this year.
After the unveiling of the standard i30 Sedan in February – and the i30 Sedan N in April – our first look at the styling update for the sporty i30 Sedan N Line has come through leaked photos from China, posted on South Korean forum Autospy.
As exclusively reported by Drive last month, the updated i30 Sedan N Line is due to offer the option of hybrid power – alongside the familiar 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine – for the first time.
Hyundai dealers have been advised to expect first arrivals of the turbo-petrol, updated i30 Sedan N Line in November or December 2023, a few months after regular 2.0-litre petrol versions.
Hybrid versions are due between March and June 2024, pending any delays.
Prices are yet to be confirmed, however increases are expected to account for new technology and features.
The current i30 Sedan N Line is priced from $32,000 plus on-road costs with in standard form with a manual transmission, $34,000 plus on-road costs with an dual-clutch automatic gearbox, or $39,000 plus on-road costs in better-equipped N Line Premium automatic trim.
However, dealers have been advised the manual transmission will be dropped for the updated model, after it accounted for 3 per cent of i30 Sedan N Line sales last year.
The photos posted in China show a sharper look than today’s model, with slimmer headlights, a restyled grille, new alloy wheels, revised rear bumper, and black badges replacing silver units.
Dealers have been told all models will be fitted with LED headlights as standard – with more advanced projector LED headlight technology in top-of-the-range versions, and reflector-type LEDs in base models.
The current i30 Sedan N Line is fitted with LED headlights on the Premium model only; the base N Line uses ageing halogen headlight technology.
Other updates expected for the facelifted model include a larger wireless smartphone charging pad, improved interior materials, and support for Hyundai’s Bluelink technology, which allows for remote unlocking and vehicle tracking from a phone app, among other features.
The 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine is expected to retain its outputs of 150kW and 265Nm, driving the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Meanwhile, the hybrid will combine a 1.6-litre non-turbo petrol four-cylinder engine with a 34kW electric motor, small battery pack and a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
In overseas models, power and torque outputs are rated at 104kW and 265Nm, while claimed fuel economy is set at 5.2 litres per 100 kilometres.
