√Next-generation Toyota C-HR testing at the Nurburgring
The new Toyota C-HR is a step closer to showrooms, after being caught on camera during a test session in Germany.
The next-generation Toyota C-HR is a step closer to showrooms, after a prototype vehicle was spotted testing at the Nurburgring in Germany.
Reinforcing what was seen in patent images, the testing photos confirm that the new C-HR will stay true to the distinctive design language introduced with the C-HR Prologue concept unveiled in 2022.
While still heavily camouflaged, the front end emphasizes the signature C-shaped LED headlights and prominent lower grille, while an interesting departure from the concept is the introduction of flush door handles in place of concealed ones.
A noteworthy change is that the flush door handles, previously positioned high up, have been relocated for easier access. At the rear, an LED light bar now extends across the tailgate while Toyota has also made modifications to the bodywork to improve aerodynamics and increase efficiency.
Drive has previously published a computer illustration based on the patent images, which still holds up against these latest testing photos.
Australian details for the C-HR models are yet to be announced.
Overseas, it is expected to be offered with a choice of hybrid and plug-in hybrid power.
The PHEV is equipped a 13.6kWh lithium-ion battery pack and the company claims the electric-only driving range is up to 69km.
The 2024 Toyota C-HR is due in Australian showrooms in the first half of next year, with more details to be announced closer to the local launch.
