2024 Toyota C-HR to be revealed this month

The second generation of Toyota’s small ‘coupe-styled’ SUV is due to be unveiled in two weeks from now, with hybrid power only.

The 2024 Toyota C-HR small SUV is due to be unveiled on 26 June 2023, the company has confirmed – ahead of first Australian showroom arrivals next year.

The teaser image showcases a new rear LED light bar with prominent ‘Toyota C-HR‘ script at its centre. A traditional Toyota logo is expected to sit below.

The design of the new C-HR was exposed 18 months ago under the guise of an electric concept car – and in production form in September 2022, through patent images first unearthed by Drive.

Seen again in recent spy photos, the new C-HR will build upon the funky styling of its predecessor, with C-shaped ‘hammerhead’ LED headlights up front. The high-mounted rear door handles have been replaced with flush levers in the door panel.

The rear LED lighting seen in the teaser image is reminiscent of the patent photos – as well as the C-HR Prologue concept unveiled in December 2022.

Toyota has confirmed that the second-generation C-HR will be offered as a plug-in hybrid, alongside the traditional “closed-loop” hybrid system in some markets.

The plug-in hybrid variant is expected to be equipped with a 13.6kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which in the latest Prius can provide up to 69km of claimed electric driving range.

However it will not be offered in Australia – and all new C-HR models in Australia will be traditional hybrids, which do not require recharging.

The 2024 Toyota C-HR is scheduled to arrive in Australian showrooms in the first half of next year.
