√GWM Ora electric car, Tank 300 hybrid 4WD delayed again
Australian arrivals of a new electric hatchback and a hybrid off-road SUV from China’s Great Wall Motors have hit a speed bump amid production delays.
Two new models from Chinese car giant Great Wall Motors (GWM) – the Ora electric car and Tank 300 hybrid four-wheel-drive – have been hit with a new round of delays, missing the latest deadline for vehicles due in Australian showrooms.
The Jeep Wrangler-style GWM Tank 300 hybrid was initially scheduled for showroom arrivals at the start of this year, ahead of the Ora – a VW Golf-sized electric hatchback – in April, but GWM Australia has advised deliveries of both vehicles have not begun.
Drive understands customer deliveries of the Ora electric car are due to begin this month.
Meanwhile, arrival timing for the Tank 300 hybrid is yet to be locked in.
However Drive understands the first examples could reach local showrooms in the coming weeks, pending any further delays.
The hybrid will be pipped to showrooms by the petrol-only Tank 300, which is expected to arrive imminently ahead of customer deliveries sometime this month – even though it was only announced for Australia this week, six months after prices for the hybrid were published in December.
These are the latest in a string of delays for the Ora hatch and Tank 300, which 18 months ago were earmarked for launch sometime in 2022.
