√2023 Ford Puma recalled due to airbag, seatbelt pretensioner faults
More than 300 Ford Pumas have been recalled in Australia as the airbags and seatbelt pretensioners may not function properly in the event of a crash.
Ford Australia has recalled 307 examples of the 2023 Ford Puma, due to a software fault which could cause the airbags and seatbelt pretensioners to malfunction if the vehicle has been fitted with incorrect replacement parts.
The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: “During the manufacturing process, the Restraint Control Module (RCM) was loaded with an incorrect configuration.
“As a result, if an incorrect replacement part is installed in the system, warnings will not be displayed and the seatbelt pretensioners and airbags may not perform as intended in the event of an accident.
“In the event of an accident, an airbag not deploying or seatbelt pretensioner not activating correctly could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants.”
