√2024 BMW X3 spied on road testing
The next generation of BMW’s luxury SUV has been spotted testing on the road, likely due in Australian showrooms by the end of next year.
The 2024 BMW X3 luxury SUV has been spotted on the road for testing, ahead of a possible launch in Australia or overseas sometime next year.
The spy photos reveal slight cosmetic changes to the current X3 models.
According to overseas reports, the new 2024 BMW X3 features updated front and rear bumpers, new laser light headlights, and a revised kidney grille – as well as claims of a “dimensionally bigger upgrade” in the interior space and boot capacity when compared to the smaller SUV sibling in the BMW X1.
The 2024 X3 “is set to inherit” technological aspects of the new X5 model which includes a dual-screen setup consisting of a 12.3-inch driver screen as well as a 14.9-inch central display console.
Internal-combustion-engine models (petrol, hybrid, and diesel) and an electric version are reported to be part of the next generation of the X3 line-up – with the future electric iX3 model expected to be released from 2025 onwards.
The new electric iX3 SUV will likely include BMW’s upcoming ‘Neue Klasse’ electric-car platform.
Earlier this year, BimmerPost forum user and BMW insider ‘ynguldyn’ – who has a proven history of sharing future BMW model plans – claimed the new petrol and diesel X3 range, dubbed ‘G45’, is due to release with four models outside of the US.
Those are expected to be the four-cylinder petrol X3 20 xDrive, four-cylinder diesel X3 20d xDrive, plug-in hybrid X3 30e xDrive and six-cylinder performance-oriented X3 M50 xDrive.
According to previous Drive reports, plug-in hybrid versions of the next-generation BMW X3 will be manufactured in South Africa “for global export”, with production beginning sometime next year.
Current petrol and diesel X3 models are made in South Africa for Australia, plug-in hybrid xDrive30e and high-performance X3 M are built in the US while the electric iX3 is manufactured in China.
The 2024 BMW X3 is expected to be unveiled in mid-2024 – likely as a 2025 model-year vehicle based on previous BMW production and launch announcements.
