√2024 BYD Seal electric-car price to be announced for Australia next week
After a series of delays, order books are finally due to open – and prices announced – for the BYD Seal electric sedan in Australia on October 17.
Australian prices for the 2024 BYD Seal – the Chinese car maker’s rival for the top-selling Tesla Model 3 – are due to be announced next Tuesday, 17 October 2023 ahead of first deliveries by the end of this year.
Orders are due to open as part of a launch event on 7:00pm on 17 October, managing director of BYD’s Australian distributor EVDirect – Luke Todd – said in a post on corporate social media platform LinkedIn.
The BYD Seal is expected to be priced to compete with the Tesla Model 3 – the best-selling mid-size sedan in Australia – which is priced from $61,900 to $71,900 plus on-road costs.
Government documents show there will be three models in Australia: the standard-range, rear-wheel-drive Dynamic, long-range rear-drive Premium, and the flagship all-wheel-drive Performance.
Claimed driving range is expected to be rated at up to 570km in the Premium – according to European WLTP lab testing – while the Performance will be capable of 0-100km/h in a claimed 3.8 seconds.
