Photographers in the US have captured the clearest images to date of the first new Nissan Patrol 4WD in nearly 14 years.
The new-generation 2025 Nissan Patrol has hit the road in the US ahead of its expected unveiling early next year with twin-turbo petrol V6 power.
The Patrol prototype in the latest photos wears significantly less disguise than examples spotted in the United Arab Emirates last week – and provide a first clear look at the front-end styling of Nissan’s new LandCruiser rival.
It is expected the new Patrol will be unveiled next year, based on reports out of the US, ahead of first showroom deliveries overseas before the end of the year.
As previously reported by Drive, the headline change for the first new Patrol since 2010 will be the death of the 5.6-litre petrol V8, in favour of a downsized twin-turbocharged petrol V6 reportedly planned to deliver more power, and similar or better fuel economy.
Visible in the latest spy photos is the front fascia of the new Patrol, with a similar grille shape to the current model – but what could be split LED headlights, with the main beam lower down on the bumper, and the daytime-running lights placed higher up.
The adoption of split headlights would match the Patrol’s luxury twin, the Infiniti QX80, which was unveiled in concept form earlier this year ahead of the showroom version’s debut due later this year or early next year, according to US reports.
There may be small differences in the design of the North American-market version of the Patrol, sold as the Armada, and the model sold in Australia, the Middle East and other regions.
As seen in previous images, the body shell and proportions of the new Patrol are boxier than the outgoing model, with straighter, sharper lines.
Inside, the new Patrol is expected to adopt Nissan’s latest cabin design and technology – including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for the first time in Australia.
The 5.6-litre petrol V8 will reportedly be ditched for a 3.5-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 developing 318kW – up from 298kW today.
Arrival timing for the 2025 Nissan Patrol is yet to be disclosed, however based on the timing of these spy photos, it is expected to be unveiled next year.
