√Jaguar farewells petrol sports cars with limited-edition F-Type

The Jaguar F-Type ‘ZP Edition’ will be the British marque’s last petrol-powered sports car – and it’s coming to Australia.

This is the final petrol-powered Jaguar F-Type – a limited-edition send-off confirmed for Australia as the brand’s farewell to its petrol sports cars before its line-up goes electric.

Following the unveiling of the F-Type R ‘75’ last year – which was initially but incorrectly reported to be the last new variant of the sports car – Jaguar has now revealed the F-Type ‘ZP Edition’ what will be truly be the last hurrah.

The new limited edition F-Type commemorates 10 years of the sports car – and the end of the line for Jaguar’s petrol-powered coupes and convertibles, with the marque planning to go electric-only from 2024.

Limited to 150 examples worldwide, the Jaguar F-Type ZP Edition is available in both coupe and convertible body styles – though only the fixed-roof version is coming to Australia, with 24 examples locked in at $373,547 plus on-road costs each.

The price makes it the most expensive F-Type ever sold in Australia – almost $44,000 dearer than the F-Type Heritage Edition – as well as nearly $90,000 more than the equivalent F-Type R 75.

Both body styles share identical highlights such as bespoke wheel arch lettering, diamond-turned 20-inch forged alloy wheels, treadplates, dashboard and a numbered plaque.

According to Jaguar, the F-Type’s name is a nod to the ‘Project ZP’ E-Type which became the iconic model’s first race-winning example in 1961.

As a tribute to the classic E-Type racer which came before it, the F-Type ZP Edition is finished with a choice of Oulton Blue Gloss or Crystal Grey Gloss paint – neither of which have been available on the sports car before, with 12 of each colour confirmed for Australia.

Regardless of exterior colour choice, all examples feature a Porcelain White hand-painted roundel on their doors, as well as an identically coloured grille surround.

Inside, Oulton Blue examples are teamed with a Mars Red and Ebony leather interior, while Crystal Grey F-Types feature Navy Blue and Ebony leather upholstery.

Under the skin, the ZP Edition shares the same specifications as the F-Type R and 75 Editions, with power coming from a supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine – claimed to produce 423kW and 700Nm.

Power is delivered to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission, good for a claimed 0-100km/h time of 3.7 seconds, and an electronically-limited top speed of 300km/h.

The Jaguar F-Type ZP Edition is due in Australian showrooms from the first quarter of 2024 (January to March, inclusive).
