√P-plater caught at more than 85km/h over the speed limit
A young driver may have predicted his future, after police allegedly caught him speeding in his Holden Commodore – complete with a ‘Financial Mistake’ decal on the windscreen.
An 18-year-old man has been stopped by police after he was allegedly detected driving at 177km/h in a 100km/h zone.
Highway Patrol officers from NSW Police intercepted the driver in the early hours of last Monday morning, only to discover he held a P1 Provisional Driver’s Licence – which includes a limit of 90km/h as a licence condition.
Police alleged the man was travelling between 153km/h and 177km/h in his white Holden Commodore without displaying P-plates correctly.
The young driver had his licence confiscated and suspended for six months and was issued fines totalling almost $3100.
Police also confiscated the number plates off the Commodore and will hold them for a period of three months.
According to the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, the 18-year-old “may also be subject to additional sanctions from Transport for NSW following his police suspension period”.
