√Retro Lamborghini Countach widened and lowered by iconic Japanese tuner
A company known for its wild customised versions of cult-hero Japanese sports cars has turned its attention to Lamborghini’s iconic 1970s and 1980s supercar.
Japanese car-tuning company Liberty Walk – known for designing crazy-looking exterior body kits for iconic sports cars – has revealed its take on the classic Lamborghini Countach supercar of the 1970s and 1980s.
With lowered suspension, even wider wheel-arch flares than the standard model, and a towering rear spoiler, the Liberty Walk-modified Lamborghini revealed at the Tokyo Auto Salon car show is unlikely to please ‘purist’ Countach fans.
THe large wheel arches are complemented by reworked bumpers at the front and rear, plus large side skirts.
Beneath this spoiler is a diffuser and a set of stainless steel exhaust pipes which likely improve the sound from the mid-mounted 5.2-litre V12 engine.
The engine air intakes were also reworked and a roof-mounted scoop has been added to maximise airflow.
As with most Liberty Walk cars, the Countach is not a fan of speed bumps – with lowered suspension and the body kit reducing ground clearance to almost zero.
Liberty Walk is yet to reveal pricing for its Countach body kit, but for context, a similar kit for the Ferrari F40 will set buyers back $US127,600, or $AU190,000.
This cost is on top of the purchase price for a Countach. A Countach 25th Anniversary edition – which was a prop in the movie The Wolf of Wall Street – recently sold for a record $US1,655,000 ($AU2,515,000).
