Volvo’s electric sister brand Polestar has released another preview of its future models, including a better look at the Polestar 3 and 4 SUVs.

Volvo electric-car spin-off Polestar has provided another look at its future model range – including our first look at what could become its best-seller, the Polestar 4 medium SUV.

A new image released by Polestar overnight showcases the rear ends of the company’s three future models: the Polestar 3 large SUV, Polestar 4 mid-size SUV and Polestar 5 sedan, due for launch in 2023 and 2024.

Previously previewed only with a side profile shot, the Polestar 3’s rear end bears similarities to the smaller Polestar 2 in the LED tail-lights – mixed with a sloping roofline, aerodynamic aids on the edges of the bumpers, and a supersized Polestar badge.

It will sit in showrooms next year alongside the smaller Polestar 4, a mid-size electric ‘coupe SUV’ targeted at the electric Porsche Macan, as a more premium alternative to the Volkswagen ID.5 GTX.

Shown here under a (deliberately translucent) sheet, the Polestar 4 looks to draw inspiration from the future Polestar 5 sedan, with a flipped U-shaped tail-light signature, and sheet metal that narrows the rear window to a small slit – and a high-resolution camera used in its place to boost visibility.

The final model in Polestar’s wave of new products is the four-door Polestar 5, the production version of the 2020 Precept concept – and seen in multiple teasers in recent months, and patent images published two weeks ago.

The latest image showcases the car’s rear end, where visible differences compared to the Precept concept are largely limited to a revised lower bumper, plus new wheels, conventional side mirrors, and tweaks to the light bar and tailgate opening.

With four models in its showrooms – Polestar 2 mid-size sedan included – Polestar plans to sell 290,000 vehicles annually by 2025, including production capacity for 160,000 Polestar 3 and 4 SUVs each year.

The company says it has received 32,000 customer orders for the Polestar 2 since the start of this year, and now operates 130 retail locations in 25 markets – including Australia.
