√2020-2022 Hyundai i30 Sedan recalled in Australia: 5200 cars affected

The Hyundai i30 Sedan has been recalled due to a fault with the seatbelt pre-tensioner, with similarities to the Takata mass airbag recall of recent years.

Hyundai has recalled 5211 examples of its 2020-2022 Hyundai i30 Sedan, citing a potential fault with the seatbelt pre-tensioner inflator.

The affected vehicles were sold between 2020 and 2022.

The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says in the event of an accident the seat belt pre-tensioner inflator could fracture, causing “metal fragments may be propelled at high speed towards the vehicle occupants causing serious injury”.
