√2023 Genesis Electrified GV70 arrives in Australia

The Genesis Electrified GV70 is the South Korean company’s third electric car to arrive in Australia.

The 2023 Genesis Electrified GV70 has arrived in Australia, with the South Korean car-maker rolling out the first examples of its electric SUV to local customers from this week.

Last month, Hyundai’s luxury division Genesis announced the Electrified GV70 would be priced from $127,800 plus on-road costs – about $45,000 more than the previous most-expensive petrol-powered version of the mid-size SUV.

The Genesis Electrified GV70 is the third electric car to be sold in Australia by Hyundai’s luxury off-shoot, joining the smaller GV60 SUV and Electrified G80 sedan. “Electrified” is the name given to Genesis electric cars derived from petrol-powered vehicles, it’s not our choice of words.

Powered by dual electric motors shared with the GV60, the Genesis Electrified GV70 develops up to 360kW and 700Nm, making it the second-most powerful electric SUV in its class behind the Tesla Model Y Performance.

Genesis claims the Electrified GV70 delivers a driving range of 445km on Europe’s WLTP test cycle, with its 77.4kWh battery capable of being DC fast charged at up to 350kW.

The Genesis Electrified GV70 is yet to be tested by ANCAP, although its petrol and diesel-powered siblings were given a five-star rating from the safety body.
