√2023 Mercedes-Benz E-Class images leak ahead of unveiling

New pictures out of China have shown the upcoming Mercedes-Benz E-Class ahead of its unveiling in the coming months.

Images of an uncamouflaged 2023 Mercedes-Benz E-Class have leaked online, revealing the model’s new front-end look.

Mercedes-Benz is expected to unveil the new E-Class in the new year, but photos of the vehicle appeared on Chinese websites overnight showing its new headlight and grille design, along with detailed photos of its dashboard.

While the headlamps have a few more curves than those found on its S-Class and C-Class siblings, the E-Class follows the brand’s current design language closely with a large traditional grille and its piano black surround extending into the lights for that trademark Y-shape Mercedes look.

Inside, two large floating landscape screens feature – one serving as the driver’s digital instrument cluster, and the other as the car’s infotainment hub – along with a large sculpted piece of wood veneer in front of the passenger.

As reported earlier this month, the forthcoming E-Class is said to be the last vehicle from Mercedes-Benz based on a platform designed solely for petrol and diesel engines – with its electric counterpart, the EQE, available for buyers who seek a battery-powered alternative.

However, the E-Class is expected to come with 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance on both the 3.0-litre turbo-petrol six-cylinder and 2.9-litre turbo-diesel six engines – with power outputs of 324kW and 246kW respectively, according to earlier reports.

A plug-in hybrid is also expected, with a 28.6kWh battery pack to offer up to 100km of electric-only driving, while the performance flagship E63 will likely swap its V8 engine for a new smaller engine with electric assistance.

Autocar also previously reported the E-Class will be available with Level 3 semi-autonomous driving capability, with lidar sensors hidden at the front of the car.

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz E-Class will be unveiled in the coming months, with deliveries expected to begin in the second half of the year.
