√Hyundai i30 Sedan N and Kona N SUV stock boost as shortages continue across most other models
Hyundai Australia has received an extra allocation of the i30 Sedan N and Kona N SUV, however hot hatches and most mainstream SUV models still have long wait times.
Australia is about to receive a supply boost of the Hyundai i30 Sedan N and Kona N performance SUV – however there are still long wait times on the Hyundai i20 N and Hyundai i30 N hot hatches and most SUVs across the range.
Hyundai has advised an extra 637 examples of the Hyundai Kona N SUV and Hyundai i30 Sedan N are due in local showrooms shortly – as part of a total shipment of 1146 examples due in the coming months – as data shows Australia is one of the most popular markets in the world for the South Korean car company’s performance vehicles.
Data from Hyundai Australia shows Hyundai N (and N Line cosmetic enhanced models) accounted for about 5 per cent of the brand’s sales locally in 2019 and the proportion of these models grew to 28 per cent of the model mix last year, aided by the arrival of new models.
While wait times on these two models are expected to come down – and some customers could take immediate delivery – dealers report lengthy delays across the most of the Hyundai range.
Hyundai dealers told Drive there are small numbers of the Hyundai Tucson Elite and N Line pack coming through, as well as regular versions of the Hyundai i30 hatch.
However, Hyundai dealers canvassed by Drive also said there are still long and uncertain wait times on the in-demand Hyundai Santa Fe and Hyundai Palisade SUVs and Hyundai Staria Load delivery van, which last year was the second-best seller in its segment behind the Toyota HiAce.
A statement from Hyundai Australia confirmed orders for the Hyundai i20 N remain suspended and i30 N hot hatch wait times are also stretched.
“The waiting list (for the Hyundai i20 N) became too long and we now need to honour the orders in place,” said a statement from Hyundai Australia.
“Supply of i30 N hatch out of the Czech Republic is also heavily restricted. (Regular) Kona and i30 models both out of (South Korea) are a challenge, as is Venue (SUV).
“We do advise customers to visit their local dealership and enquire about the stock situation – if they are prepared to be a little flexible on price and (equipment), cars can be available immediately.”
