√Ferrari posts record sales and profits for 2022
Italian supercar manufacturer Ferrari set new records for global sales and company profits last year – despite or perhaps because of travel restrictions amid global lockdowns caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Iconic Italian supercar manufacturer Ferrari set new records for global sales and company profits last year.
In 2022, Ferrari reported 13,221 new cars as sold worldwide, beating its 2021 record of 11,155 examples by 18.5 per cent, according to the company’s latest financial report.
Australian new-car sales data showed Ferrari sold 203 cars locally last year – falling short of its 2019 record of 257 reported sales.
Ferrari’s hybrid supercars – the 296 GTB/GTS and SF90 Stradale/Spider – accounted for 22 per cent (or about 2908 examples) of the car-maker’s global sales in 2022, another record for the company.
The Italian company claims to have also posted its highest net profit, in 2022, clearing in €939 million ($AU1.49 billion) for the year – representing an increase of almost 13 per cent compared to its previous record of €833 million ($AU1.29 billion) set in 2021.
Ferrari’s success follows reports of Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini, Bentley and Bugatti posting all-time sales records in 2022 – as German luxury brands Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz hit the brakes.
The hybrid V12-powered successor to the Ferrari 812 Superfast is expected to launch this year, becoming the first of 15 new models due to launch between 2023 and 2026.
In June 2022, Ferrari announced it would launch 15 new models by 2026, with 60 per cent of the upcoming cars to be electrified – five per cent electric and 55 per cent hybrid.
At least 85 per cent of Ferrari’s new models will consist of series-production vehicles such as the 296 GTB/GTS mid-engined V6 supercars, Roma/Portofino front-engined V8s, and the 812 Superfast successor.
By 2030, Ferrari claims 80 per cent of its models will be electrified – consisting of 40 per cent electric cars, 40 per cent hybrids and 20 per cent petrol-only vehicles.
As previously reported, two new Ferrari models are expected to arrive in Australia towards the second half of 2023 – the plug-in hybrid 296 GTS convertible and the non-electrified Purosangue SUV.
The first batch of Australian-bound Ferrari Purosangues are already sold, forcing the Italian company to close its order books for the SUV and announce two-year wait times for those who missed out on the initial allocation.
