So many questions, so many tickets. Unlicensed driver of an unregistered car is shocked to discover police spotted his Holden ute covered in solar panels, missing number plates.

An unlicensed driver who appears to be a few tin-foil hats short of a conspiracy theory conference has been busted by police for driving an unregistered ‘solar-powered’ Holden ute.

Using their powers of observation, Victoria Police highway patrol spotted the Commodore covered in solar panels – but missing number plates – and directed the driver to stop.

Falling into the category of “now I’ve seen everything”, police discovered the driver of the allegedly solar-powered Holden Commodore – which likely also had a V6 or V8 engine under the bonnet – was unlicensed.

And that was just the start of his problems.

The vehicle was unregistered, which led to 30-day impound at a minimum cost of $1006.

Police allege the 40-year-old driver was then arrested due to an “unrelated bench warrant.”

Victoria Police stopped the vehicle late last week in Scoresby, a suburb south-east of Melbourne.

Given unlicensed drivers and unregistered vehicles are over-represented in road fatalities, Victoria Police have likely removed a menace from our roads – due to a routine traffic stop that went beyond the scope of speed cameras.

Victoria Police said the driver of the ‘solar-powered’ Holden ute “will be invited along to the Magistrates Court at a future date to explain his actions.”
