√Pranksters transform stolen, crashed Ford Falcon into art installation

Now THAT is art. A simple sign – similar to what you might see at an exhibition – has brought some light to the grim scene of a crashed stolen Ford Falcon.

Car crime has become so widespread in parts of Australia, some members of the community are starting to add some artistic licence to the futile battle against the rise in motor vehicle thefts.

Less that two years after the insurance industry pulled its funding of the independent National Motor Vehicle Theft Reduction Council it turns out joy-riders, opportunistic thieves, and professional gangs are now running amok on our streets – and pushing up insurance premiums.

Now a prankster has gone to quite some effort to make some light-hearted commentary on the latest car crime wave.

A dumped Ford Falcon sedan – which appears to have been stolen, intentionally crashed into a tree, and then set alight to remove evidence – has become an unlikely and impromptu art installation with the addition of a simple sign.

The printed and laminated sign – tied to the tree suspected of bringing the Ford Falcon’s life to an untimely end – reads under the headline of ‘Mixed Metals’:

“This piece depicts the strength of the natural world versus the transitory nature of a (Ford) Falcon ripping fat skids. Such a moving piece.”

The caption is attributed to a person by the name of Edward Jones, though we suspect this is a pseudonym.

The scene was caught on camera and posted on the Facebook page of Car Spotters Australia, where the thoughtful note was instantly appreciated – before an argument broke out over which model Ford Falcon it was.
