√YouTuber buys a $500,000 Ferrari F8 Tributo and sets about destroying it
Love Ferraris? Don’t watch this.
Whether you are a red-blooded Tifosi or just a fan of the Prancing Horse, this video from American YouTuber ‘Whistlindiesel’ will be hard to watch.
In his latest stunt video, Whistlindiesel (real name Cody Detwiler) buys a second-hand 2020 Ferrari F8 Tributo in order to see how tough it really is.
The car, finished in Rosso Corsa red with a contrasting black roof over a black interior with the carbon-fibre pack, features staggered aftermarket Vossen wheels, 21-inch front and 22-inch rear.
It’s a great spec, which no doubt contributed to the car’s recent rise in value. The exact vehicle was advertised recently for just over $US400,000 ($AU600,000), following an unsuccessful auction on Bring-A-Trailer where it was bid to $US341,000 but didn’t meet the reserve.
Given the F8 cost $US275,000 when new, before options (or $US361,755 as optioned), it seems a shame to pay a premium only to effectively destroy the car.
In the clip, which has accumulated over three million views in just three days, Detwiler removes the standard exhaust in order to fit a custom system that is as loud as possible, and pushes the Ferrari at speed around gravel roads and on grass like a rally car.
While the car seems to handle the punishment surprisingly well, the F8 is not treated kindly at any stage and having seen the channel’s other productions, this is only a taste of what is to come for the poor Ferrari.
We’ve previously seen Whistlindiesel’s antics drop a Toyota HiLux from a helicopter and jump a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen to destruction, so things are not likely to end well for the Ferrari.
All of this, of course, is in the name of video views, which like it or not, seems to be working.
For those counting at home too, at standard rates a channel like Whistlindiesel will earn about $US5000 per million views. That means 80 million views will make this break even, but if that sounds like a lot, the channel currently sees about 500,000 views per day, which suggests the unfortunate Ferrari will have earned its keep a bit later this year.
