√2023 Peugeot 508 Sportswagon Plug-in Hybrid due in Australia by July
The plug-in hybrid version of the sleek Peugeot 508 liftback is due to gain a wagon sibling in Australia by the middle of this year.
The 2023 Peugeot 508 GT Sportswagon Plug-in Hybrid is due in local showrooms between April and June this year – as what is expected to be the second-most expensive Peugeot ever sold in Australia.
The plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of the 508 wagon joins the Fastback (hatchback-style sedan) body style introduced in March 2022, and is slated to launch in a single, highly-specified GT model grade.
Peugeot is yet to confirm pricing for the new model, however it is expected to command a premium over the 508 GT Fastback PHEV on sale now, which is listed for $81,610 plus on-road costs.
Based on the circa-$2200 premium the standard petrol 508 GT Sportswagon commands over the Fastback, the plug-in hybrid wagon is estimated to cost close to $84,000 plus on-road costs.
This would make it the second-most expensive Peugeot ever sold in Australia, ahead of the 508 GT Fastback plug-in hybrid, but behind the 3008 GT Sport Plug-in Hybrid medium SUV ($84,790 plus on-road costs).
Powering the plug-in 508 is a 133kW 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine and an 81kW electric motor, good for 165kW combined, and about 55km of electric driving range.
The inbound 508 plug-in hybrid wagon is not part of the facelifted 508 wagon range unveiled last month – which has been all but confirmed for an Australian launch, but is yet to be given an arrival date.
Expressions of interest are now open for the 2023 Peugeot 508 GT Sportswagon Plug-in Hybrid, ahead of first local showroom arrivals between April and June 2023.
