√2024 Alfa Romeo Giulia, Stelvio Quadrifoglio facelifts unveiled
The high-performance versions of the Alfa Romeo Giulia sedan and Stelvio SUV have been treated to styling and performance upgrades for Europe.
The updated 2024 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio and Stelvio Quadrifoglio have been unveiled, ahead of European – and likely Australian – showroom arrivals later this year.
Unveiled on the 100th anniversary of the debut of the Quadrifoglio (four-leaf) badge, the updated Giulia and Stelvio performance flagships mirror the mild facelift unveiled for the standard range last year.
Australian arrival timing is yet to be locked in. The standard Giulia and Stelvio Veloce four-cylinder models are due in local Alfa Romeo showrooms by the end of June 2023.
These updates for the Quadrifoglio twins are among the last of their kind, as electric replacements for both vehicles are expected in 2025 or 2026, before Alfa Romeo goes electric-only from 2027.
Exterior changes are mild by the standards of a typical new-vehicle ‘facelift’, limited to new matrix LED headlights with scrolling indicators – replacing the bi-xenon headlamps of the current models.
Inside, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster replaces analogue dials and a 7.0-inch screen, offering the same ‘Evolved’, ‘Relaxed’ and ‘Heritage’ views as the standard Giulia and Stelvio, plus an exclusive ‘Race’ layout that includes a central tachometer, speedometer and shift light.
However, the biggest changes with the updated Quadrifoglio cars may not reach Australian showrooms: a limited-edition ‘Quadrifoglio 100th Anniversario’, with more power, a new differential, and various visual changes.
Limited to 100 examples globally for each vehicle (Giulia and Stelvio), it’s unclear if it will come to Australia.
Given only 570 examples of both cars – across standard Veloce and performance Quadrifoglio variants – were sold in Australia last year, any local allocation will likely be extremely limited.
Headlining the special edition is a power boost for the 2.9-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 engine, which increases from 375kW/600Nm to 383kW/600Nm – but only in European, UK and Chinese markets.
Power continues to be sent through an eight-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels in the Giulia, and all four wheels in the Stelvio, but it’s now aided by a mechanical self-locking rear differential for improved driving dynamics.
Available in Rosso Etna (Etna Red), Verde Montreal (Montreal Green), and Nero Vulcano (Volcano Black), the special edition is fitted as standard with an Akrapovic sports exhaust, and gold brake calipers behind the Giulia’s 19-inch wheels, and the Stelvio’s 21-inch alloys.
Other tweaks include gold-accented Quadrifoglio badges, carbon-fibre mirror caps and grille, black leather and Alcantara seats with gold stitching, a leather and Alcantara steering wheel, carbon-fibre interior trim pieces, and ‘100’ stitching on the dashboard.
The 2024 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio and Stelvio Quadrifoglio are expected to go on sale in Europe later this year. Drive has contacted Alfa Romeo Australia to confirm local arrival timing.
