√What is that insanely cool car in Succession season 4?
Media dynasty train-crash family drama Succession is must-see TV, and with billionaire lifestyles taking centre stage, there are some pretty epic cars on display.
It’s the family drama we all hate to love, and for its fourth and final season, Succession has raised the stakes higher than ever.
But putting the Roy family chess game aside, we all want to know about the striking car that briefly appeared in the Season 4 trailer.
What is it? And can we afford it?
What is the car in the Succession Season 4 trailer?
It’s only on screen for a fraction of a second, but the big, black sedan has caused quite a stir.
The car in question is a Lucid Air, a full-size electric sedan, designed and built in the USA by American electric carmaker Lucid Motors.
The Lucid Air is available in four variants, starting with the US$87,400 (A$131k) Air Pure that has a 92kWh battery providing a peak of 358kW of power and a massive 660km of range.
At the top of the tree is the $249,000 (A$374k) Air Sapphire which uses its 112kWh battery to deliver a staggering 895kW output.
As it stands, the Air is the longest-range EV currently available anywhere in the world, with the large-battery (112kWh) Air Grand Touring capable of an 830km run, just shy of a Melbourne-to-Sydney trip on a single charge.
As a company, Lucid has been around since 2007 but has only been developing its own cars since 2016. Prior to this time the Californian-based firm was involved with the development of electric car batteries and drivelines.
The company is 61 per cent owned by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia.
What car does Logan Roy have in Succession?
While we’re yet to find out who’s behind the wheel of the Lucid Air, we can confirm the show’s media-dynasty patriarch, Logan Roy (Brian Cox), rides in a W223 Mercedes-Maybach S580 that has the 21-inch Maybach exclusive ‘champagne flute’ wheels.
This uses the 370kW/700Nm 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with a mild-hybrid system, and is all-wheel drive.
Considering Roy’s wealth, we’re surprised he didn’t stump for the range-topping ($573,192) Maybach S680 with its 463kW/900Nm 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12.
