Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds now owns part of a Formula One team
Alpine F1 Team can now claim Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds, Micheal B Jordan, and Rob McElhenney as part-owners, following a deal worth more than €200 million – or $AU326 million.
The Alpine Formula One Team has received a €200 million ($AU326 million) cash injection, thanks in part to actor Ryan Reynolds.
Mr Reynolds – who is arguably best known for his leading roles in Hollywood films Van Wilder, The Hitman’s Bodyguard, and the Deadpool trilogy – now owns 24 per cent of the Alpine F1 Team through his investment company, F1.com reports.
Actors Michael B Jordan (Black Panther, Creed) and Rob McElhenney (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Mythic Quest) are also said to be partners in the investment.
It’s understood the group also have financial interests in the US National Football League (NFL), NFL team the Dallas Cowboys, French football club Toulouse FC, and UK football team Wrexham AFC.
Alpine F1 Team finished the 2022 season in fourth place – behind Mercedes and ahead of McLaren – and currently sits in fifth place at this point in the 2023 championship.

The French Formula One team was left red-faced in late 2022 after falsely announcing up-and-coming Australian driver Oscar Piastri would continue with Alpine in 2023, when he had already signed on with McLaren F1 Team, taking over the seat from fellow countryman Daniel Ricciardo.
The investment values the Alpine F1 Team at approximately €900 million – or just short of $AU1.5 billion.
While the Alpine F1 Team is a different business unit to the sports-car brand, there are unconfirmed reports Alpine could branch out into the US new-car market as early as 2024, which could have a positive effect on the F1 team’s customer base.
