√2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N electric performance car leaked ahead of reveal
Hyundai’s first electric performance car – the Ioniq 5 N – has broken cover online, just days before covers are due to officially come off.
Images of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N – the South Korean car-maker’s first performance electric model – have leaked only a handful of days before its official debut.
In a set of images shared online by South Korean publication Autospy, Hyundai’s first electric production car to wear the ‘N’ badge appears to carry across the Ioniq 5’s styling but with additional design cues from the company’s petrol-powered performance cars.
Finished in the Hyundai N brand’s iconic ‘Performance Blue’ – often seen on the i30N, i20N and Kona N – the Ioniq 5 N includes a red accented front splitter and side skirts, while parts of its front, side and rear panels have been painted black.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N’s more aggressive stance comes from the addition of wider wheel arches, lowered suspension, a small roof spoiler and new-look performance wheels, which replace the more aerodynamic design found on the standard electric car.
Inside, the Ioniq 5’s dual 12.3-inch infotainment display and digital dash carry across, albeit with the addition of N-specific performance apps such as a lap timer and torque distribution readout.
It also appears the sportier steering wheel incorporates Performance Blue paddles – for adjustable regenerative braking – and an ‘N’ button, likely to deliver a power boost for the electric car.
Hyundai is yet to confirm the Ioniq 5 N’s power outputs, though it is expected to be more powerful than any other Hyundai Group electric car based on the E-GMP platform – which is shared with the Kia EV6 and Genesis GV60, among others.
While the flagship Kia EV6 GT produces 430kW, unsubstantiated reports have claimed the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N will develop almost 650PS (metric horsepower) – equivalent to 478kW.
The electric car is also expected to be powered by a larger battery than the 77.4kWh pack in the top-of-the-range Hyundai Ioniq 5, though former N division boss turned company technical advisor Albert Biermann previously told Drive the Ioniq 5 N would likely have a shorter driving range due to its high-performance motors and larger alloy wheels.
For context, the standard dual-motor Ioniq 5’s 77.4kWh battery is good for a claimed 454km in European WLTP lab testing, while the more powerful Kia EV6 GT claims 424km in the same lab testing.
