√2024 Mazda CX-30 tech update coming soon to Australia

The Mazda CX-30 small SUV is poised to adopt a larger infotainment screen and other technology changes as part of an update due in local showrooms later this year.

A technology upgrade for the 2024 Mazda CX-30 small SUV is due in Australian showrooms by the end of this year.

On sale now in the UK and Europe, the updated CX-30 follows the latest Mazda 3 in adopting a larger infotainment screen and other subtle interior and exterior changes – though likely accompanied by price rises.

Mazda Australia is yet to confirm plans for an updated CX-30, however it is expected to follow sometime after the updated Mazda 3 reaches showrooms this month – and that details may be confirmed in the coming weeks.

The main change is a larger 10.25-inch infotainment display on top-of-the-range models, as a step up over the 8.8-inch screen on cheaper versions.

It runs the same Mazda Connect software as before – without touch functionality – but gains wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (in addition to wired).

Other interior changes include USB-C charging ports replacing USB-A, tweaked higher-contrast steering-wheel buttons, and a wireless phone charging pad ahead of the gear shifter.

It is expected prices will increase to account for the changes, given rises of $1210 to $2310 were applied to the Mazda 3 for a similar update this year.

Ceramic Metallic paint replacing Sonic Silver is the only exterior change, while the autonomous emergency braking system has reportedly been retuned for improved detection at night.

Buyers are expected to retain a choice of 2.0-litre ‘G20’ and 2.5-litre non-turbo four-cylinder petrol engines, but if the Mazda 3 is a guide, the slow-selling 2.0-litre supercharged ‘X20’ petrol four-cylinder may be axed.

Also on the chopping block – if the CX-30 follows its Mazda 3 sibling is the manual transmission, which is only offered in the base G20 Pure, and the ‘G20e’ mild-hybrid version of the 2.0-litre non-turbo petrol engine.

More details of the 2024 Mazda CX-30 are expected to follow closer to its eventual Australian showroom arrival.
