Million-dollar race-winning Holden Torana A9X for sale

Few Australian racing cars can claim a history as rich as this Torana, having won the 1979 Australian Touring Car Championship while up against Peter Brock.

A Holden Torana race car with a prestigious history of motorsport in Australia is up for sale.

One of the few Holden racing cars of the 1970s and 80s to defeat the legendary Peter Brock, this Torana A9X Group C was one of two vehicles to race and win the Australian Touring Car Champion (ATCC) in 1979.

The vehicle also has the honour of being raced in period by international racing greats Derek Bell, Dieter Quester, Johnny Rutherford, Janet Guthrie, as well as Australia’s own Bob Morris.

The Torana is finished in the same green, white, and blue livery designed by Bob Morris, just as the car was when it finished its final race in the early 1980s.

With just three owners since new, the Group C Torana is being offered by Ecurie Bowden – the dealership run by car care royalty, the Bowden family.

A price hasn’t been listed for the Torana, however estimations of $1 million were floated when the vehicle went to auction in 2017 – three years before the Holden brand was shut down.

The listing for the Holden Torana A9X Group C race car can be viewed on the Ecurie Bowden website by clicking here.
