√2022 Polestar 2 wait times, stock update for Australia
Nearly 350 Polestar 2 electric cars will soon be available to purchase for fast delivery, if you’d prefer not to wait until August for a custom factory order.
Customer deliveries of the 2022 Polestar 2 electric car have commenced in Australia – but for buyers yet to join the queue, there’s ample stock on local shores ready for purchase.
The first customer-ordered Polestar 2 sedans were delivered to their new owners in Sydney and Melbourne on Monday, with the first customers in Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and the ACT to get their cars later this month, followed by WA in April.
But if you’ve yet to put your money down on a car, two options are available: place a factory order for a vehicle to your specifications, or purchase one of the “pre-configured” cars in Polestar Australia’s inventory, for delivery in a few weeks’ time.
Placing a factory order today will see delivery this August, according to Polestar Australia (as of publishing) – pending no further delays due to semiconductor shortages or shipping issues.
Alternatively, there are 149 “pre-configured”, already-built cars (as of Friday, March 16) in the country available for purchase and delivery within a few weeks – with a further 200 due in a shipment later this month (March 2022).
These 200 cars – all of which are “pre-configured” vehicles not claimed by buyers, rather than customer-ordered, already-allocated cars, contrary to reporting – are believed to comprise the first of the entry-level Standard Range Single Motor variants, production of which began for Australia in January.
The 149 vehicles already on local soil – and those now being delivered to customers, possibly as many as 180 cars – are believed to comprise a mix of Long Range Single Motor and Long Range Dual Motor models.
In addition to the start of customer deliveries in other states, test drives will expand beyond their current Sydney and Melbourne bases to locations in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, with details to be released “shortly”.
Polestar is offering buyers a seven-day money-back guarantee, entitling them to a full refund within a week of purchase if their vehicle has covered less than 500km since delivery.
The brand introduced a financing program late last week – underwritten by financier Allied Credit – and a guaranteed future value program, which will allow “owners to know, in advance, the minimum value of their vehicle at the end of the loan term,” Polestar says.
“At that point in time, the customer can choose to upgrade the vehicle for a new Polestar, pay the balloon and retain the vehicle, or return the vehicle with no balloon payment,” the company adds.
Three variants of the Polestar 2 are available, priced from $59,900 to $69,900 before on-road costs – though key advanced safety features including adaptive cruise control and blind-spot monitoring are bundled into the $3400 Pilot Lite Pack (formerly the Pilot Pack, following semiconductor constraints).
A $6000 Plus Pack is available across the range, while the flagship Long Range Dual Motor variant can be had with an $8000 Performance Pack.
